Meet the Staff

Tammie Cinder Velasquez
Coordinator

Tammie Velasquez Tammie is the Coordinator for the Gender Equity Center (GEC) within the Cross Cultural Centers. She received her Masters in Post-secondary Administration & Student Affairs from USC, and Bachelors in Gender, Ethnicity, and Multicultural Studies, with an emphasis in Women's Studies from Cal Poly Pomona. Tammie has a passion for intersecting identities,social justice and advocacy.
Fun Fact: Tammie’s favorite thing to do is eat (anything and everything), as well as lip-sync foolishly to songs in the car.

Emma De La Rosa
Graduate Assistant

Emma De La Rosa Emma is excited to be this year’s graduate assistant for the Gender Equity Center (GEC). She holds a sociology degree from the University of California, Merced and is currently working on a Master’s degree in Public Policy. She has a passion for empowering communities to succeed. Thanks to the Cross Cultural Centers and specifically the GEC, she has grown as a professional, but most importantly as a person.

Mady Aitchison
Student Assistant

Mady Aitchison Mady graduated from Cal Poly with a degree in History in December 2015. She has worked for the Gender Equity Center for three years and has specifically worked on GEM Training, the Don't Put Me in a Box campaign, and Vagina Monologues. She enjoys working with students to create a more inclusive and welcoming campus.
Fun Fact: Mady spent the previous summer learning Vietnamese!

 

Aurora Chavez
Student Assistant

Aurora Chavez Aurora is a 3rd year double major in Political Science and Anthropology & Geography, with a minor in Latin American Studies. She is a student assistant focusing on programs such as Dia de los Muertos celebrations and Latinx socials/panels. She's especially excited for her upcoming short series on issues such as machismo, marianismo, and colorism within the Latin community.
Fun Fact: Aurora has two pet guinea pigs named Joey and Chandler. If you couldn't already tell, her favorite T.V. show is "Friends"!

 

Stephanie Ray
Student Assistant

Stephanie Ray Stephanie is a 2nd year Mathematics major and cheerleader here at Cal Poly. She loves working towards advancing women in STEM and creating dialogue on the issues of a strict gender binary.
Fun Fact: Stephanie loves cartoons! Her current favorites are Steven Universe and The Legend of Korra.
