Polycultural Weekend

PolyCultural Weekend is designed to acquaint prospective students to the Cal Poly University by exploring academic, cultural, and social resources of the institution. PolyCultural Weekend aims to establish a sense of community, a sense of belonging, and provides students with the skills to succeed at Cal Poly, even though it is a different environment.

Student of Color Summit

Annual event catered to students of color to offer development and engagement opportunities. The MCC seeks to support students in their efforts to mobilize and build coalitions between student of color organizations and underrepresented student clubs. We want to provide students of color with skills in the areas of advocacy, community organizing, and networking. It is our hope that by doing this, students will become empowered and gradually build relationships across communities. Although organized by the MCC, the various workshops will be hosted by Cal Poly’s faculty and staff of color.

Another Type of Groove

The mission of Another Type of Groove is to create open space for the interchange of ideas, beliefs, and personal expression. Through this exchange and dialogue, students can create respect for themselves as well as individuals of their community. Another Type of Groove endeavors to build an authentic sense of community throughout the Cal Poly student body by generating knowledge about the uniqueness of individuals and the cultures form which they come.
