Make a Difference Day
Make a Difference Day is a national day of service encouraging community members to come together to do volunteer service. This year, Cal Poly’s Center for Service in Action celebrates an 18 year partnership with United Way of San Luis Obispo County bringing community members and students together to complete 3200 hours of service.
This year’s Make a Difference Day is on October 22, 2016 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Starting with check-in, free breakfast, and Make a Difference Day t-shirt distribution in Chumash auditorium, volunteers are then dispersed to non-profit agencies throughout the county to do 4 hours of much needed service.
Join us in helping support the non-profits, schools, and families of San Luis Obispo County by signing up now. Sign-up as a group with your club, company, fraternity or sorority OR sign-up individually to build your community around service! Sign-ups at MADD2016.eventbrite.com.
The Center for Service in Action just won one of 14 national awards from the
Make A Difference Day (MADD) organization. In receiving the award, Center
staff were asked to designate a participating community partner from MADD'16
to be the recipient of a $10,000 check from Tegna (the producers of MADD
nationally) and the Arby's Foundation.
Click on the link below to see a video from the big reveal ambush, when
we surprised the staff and board of directors of El Camino Homeless
Organization (ECHO) with the check.
Agencies that would like volunteers should contact The Center for Service in Action as soon as possible - firstname.lastname@example.org or 805-756-7011.
